The surprise 1

 The surprise 1

The surprise is something that I didn't planed to see, I didn't know anything before going to the Reisseckbahn, the surprise is this inclined track above the narrow gauge train!

The surprise 1

The inclined track from the top.

The photo shows that this incline track is a real funicular railway with the rollers between the rails.

You can notice that this inclined track is linked to the narrow gauge train with a siding track just at the chalet.

The incline track from the chalet.

You can see the switch between the incline track and the track on the right which goes to the Reisseck Hotel and the narrow gauge train.

The surprise 1

The surprise 1 The surprise 1

Details of the rollers of the inclined track,
on the left it is just the wear of a piece of wood which support the cable.

The surprise 1

The engine house of the incline track.

You can see the cable which is lying on the ground and the snow. It is supported by a large roller and goes inside the engine room through a slot in the wall.

What you can also notice is the track which is turning to the right.

The surprise 1

 The track after the incline.

The track is now horizontal and after 200 meters it stops.

After the track you can see the Grossmühldorfsee dam.

I have asked people of the Reisseckbahn about this incline: it is used to take up loads.

Well, interesting, but why taking up loads at this place? I didn't asked me this good question at the moment, I thought it was for the dam which is just near the top station of the incline.

In fact I found the surprise 2 when I was back in Paris after examining the map of the area and all the photos I took at the Reisseck!!!...
