The incline 1 / Le plan incliné 1

The incline 1 (or Plan incliné 1 on the map) is the incline which was built to link the bottom station of the funicular with the tramway line Grenoble-Chapareillan.
This incline is very interesting because its main function was to bring a freight wagon from the tramway line to the side of the bottom station of the funicular.
The following elements were built to achieve this objective:
- a 100 meters linking track from the tramway line.
- a turntable for the freight wagon.
- a pier where the wagon could climb up on a flatcar which was moved by the cable incline.
- the cable incline itself with its small top station.
- another pear for unloading on the side of the bottom station of the funicular.
- an horizontal crane to carry the freight from the wagon to the funicular cabin.
