Stazione Vellone

The great originality of the project of the engineer Brezzi was the Vellone station.

Vellone station was at the same time:

- the end station of the train Varese-Vellone.
- the lower station of the funicular Vellone-Sacro Monte.
- the lower station of the funicular Vellone-Campo dei Fiori.
It was a real transfer station!
Another originality was the architecture. The station is a real elegant hexagonal building.
Each track has a 120 degree angle with the other ones.
Today, the Vellone station is like an antic vestige but it has kept all its charm!
