Description
|
This
funicular is born with the XXth century. It links
Vevey to the Mont Pélerin, a small summit
above the Leman lake.
The line crosses the famoux vineyard of Chardonne
which an Apellation Contrôlée of the
Lavaux area between Lausanne and Montreux.
The funicular is very classical but there are three
intermediate stops: Corseaux, Chardonne, la Baume.
In 1968 the Leman highway was built and it passes
below the track between Chardonne and Corseaux stops.
Is it the only funicular which passes over an highway?
It is automatic. The two carriages are not classical.
Each carriage is composed of one compartment on
four levels.
The funicular is owned by the Goldenpass
company. |
