Tonight I was at the Paris 3rd Arrondissement Council; it was the opening of the 1st free urban Wifi service testing! On the roof of the 3ème arrondissement council, a unique Wifi antenna broadcasts the signal within an 800 meters radius! Everybody in this radius can freely access internet with no limit during this testing. After 6 months, the radius will be extended to cover all the 3rd Arrondissement. This testing is entirely free, both for the citizen and the council. Meteor Networks will analyze the traffic and will decide what will be the future of this testing… still free or with advertising…

Well, back to my home… no Wifi signal from the 3rd Arrondissement Council!
I live too far from the town council… I still have to wait for my Freebox ? 🙁

🙁

Tramway T3 in Paris

Paris, September 17, 2006.

This week end, it was the "Journées du Patrimoine" and the new tramway T3 was displayed at Porte d'Ivry. Only displayed… no chance to see it moving on the boulevard des Maréchaux Apparently they were afraid of the crowds… in fact there were more people of RATP than visitors! Anyway…

I must admit that this is a wonderful tramway! The interior is decorated with very plaisant colors. The exterior of the train is decorated with parisian icons like cobblestones, accordion, parisian café, tree cast iron plate, there is also a pigeon (!)… all in one I'd prefered to see a sparrow!

It will be the first tramway in Paris since 1935! It will link the Pont du Garigliano to Porte d'Ivry on the south part of the boulevard des Maréchaux with 17 stations.

The opening is planed for December 2006.
