Here are some photos of the Hotel Terrace at Engelberg in Switzerland.
The photos were taken on December 4, 2008 and show the new lift which was installed instead of the old funicular, the Terracebahn.The new lift is a vertical lift located just at the entrance of the hotel. There are three levels: hotel, parking and town level.
The entrance of the lift at the town level is located exactly at the location of the bottom station of the old funicular. There is an horizontal tunnel from this station to reach the lift below the hotel!
Well… I must admit I am not enthusiastic at all about this realization!
Hôtel terrace – Le nouvel ascenseur
Voici quelques photos de l’hôtel Terrace à Engelberg en Suisse.
Ces photos ont été prises le 4 décembre 2008 et montrent le nouvel ascenseur qui vient d’être installé en lieu et place de l’ancien funiculaire Terracebahn.
Il s’agit d’un ascenseur vertical situé just à l’entrée de l’hôtel. Il y a trois niveaux: hôtel, parking et ville.
L’entrée de l’ascenseur se situe au niveau ville en lieu et place de l’ancienne gare basse du funiculaire. De là pour atteindre l’ascenseur il faut emprunter un tunnel horizontal!
Et bien… je dois dire que je ne suis pas du tout enthousiasmé par cette réalisation!

L’entrée du tunnel. L’hôtel se trouve sur la gauche, au dessus de l’entrée on aperçoit ce qu’il reste de l’ancien funiculaire dont la tranchée a été comblée.

Fortunately, the top station is preserved with one of the two carriages! Thank you Christoph Berger…
