Solution of Quiz #31 – Harderbahn

Cette voie Decauville a servi pour la construction du funiculaire Harderbahn à Interlaken (Suisse) qui fut mis en service en 1908. Elle est visible près de Hardermandli à l’altitude de 1160 mètres.  Il en reste environ 200 mètres.

The Decauville track was used to build the funicular Harderbahn at Interlaken (Switzerland) which was opened in 1908. It is visible near Hardermandli at 1160 meters high on quite 200 meters.

Today, March 13rd, 2008, two new cars were delivered to the Harderbahn in Interlaken (Switzerland).
Last August, after a big mudslide one of the cars was damaged and the Jungfraubahnen decided to change the two old cars in Sring 2008.
At the same time, the funicular was modernized by Garaventa. It will be reopened on April 26, 2008 with the official unveiling on May 15th.
The two new cars are named "Interlaken" and "Unterseen" which are the names of the councils where are located the bottom and the top stations.

Aujourd'hui, 13 mars 2008, les deux voitures du Harderbahn (Interlaken, Suisse) ont été remplacées par par deux toutes nouvelles, construites par Gangloff.
Déjà en septembre dernier, après la coulée de boue qui a sérieusement endommagée une des deux voitures, j'annonçais que les Jungfraubahnen avaient décidé ce renouvellement de matériel.
Par la même occasion, le funculaire est modernisé par Garaventa. La remise en service est prévue pour le 26 avril 2008 et l'inauguration officielle est, elle, prévue pour le 15 mai 2008.
Les voitures ont été baptisées "Interlaken" et "Unterseen" des noms des communes sur lesquelles se trouvent les gares basse et supérieure.

You remember?… during the night between August 8 and 9th, 2007,  there was big storms over Switzerland, particularly in canton of Bern, Fribourg and Vaud…
At Interlaken (Bern), a big mudslide damaged one of the Harderbahn carriage at the bottom station (see photo)!
Still that night, the Harderbahn funicular is still out of order!
Hopefully and unlike the Lauterbrunnen funicular, the Harderbahn will be saved… It is supposed to re-open on September 22.
The capital of the Jungfraubahnen has been increased and the decision to replaced the old carriages by new panoramic carriages seems to be decided!

Vous vous souvenez?… dans la nuit du 8 au 9 août 2007, de violents orages ont dévasté, en particulier, les cantons de Berne, Fribourg et Vaud…
A Interlaken (canton de Berne), une énorme coulée de boue a dévasté la gare basse du funiculaire Harder avec la voiture qui s'y trouvait (voir photo)!
Depuis cette nuit là, le funiculaire est hors service!
Heureusement et contrairement au funiculaire de Lauterbrunnen, le funiculaire du Harder sera sauvé… il devrait réouvrir le 22 septembre.
Il y a peu, la société Jungfraubahnen a voté une augmentation de capital dont l'une des conséquences semble être la décision de changer les voitures du funiculaire du Harder par des nouvelles voitures panoramiques!
