The Grand Budapest Hotel est un film de Wes Anderson sorti en 2014.
L’action se passe pendant l’entre-deux-guerres dans un grand hôtel de montagne situé dans une république imaginaire d’Europe centrale.
Les vues extérieures de l’hôtel et de la montagne ont été entièrement reconstituées à l’aide de modèles réduits entièrement imaginés voire inspirés librement de lieux authentiques comme par exemple Karlovy Vary en République Tchèque.
Ainsi le Grand Budapest Hotel n’est accessible que par un funiculaire de montagne entièrement inspiré par le funiculaire du Château Royal de Budapest (Budavári Sikló).

Beautiful Autochrome of the Giessbach Bahn funicular bridge near Lake Brienz in the canton of Berne (Switzerland).
The photo was taken in 1907 by the French photographer Henri Chouanard, one of the first users of the autochrome photographic process, patented by the Lumière brothers.
