Parsennbahn – Delivery of the new cars of the second section

On September 5, 2010, the two new cars in the second section of the funicular Parsennbahn ( in Davos in the canton of Graübunden in Switzerland) have been delivered and installed at the passing loop of the second section.
Remember: in December 2002, the first section of Parsennbahn has been completely renovated and two new cars (1 and 2), built by Gangloff have replaced the old. It has taken until 2010 to see the renovation of the second section with two new cars (#3 and #4) always built by Gangloff. The opening of the second section is planned for December 2010.
What is particularly interesting is the way followed by the new cars #3 and #4, 16 tons each, to arrive at the passing loop of the second section  (altitude 2450 meters). From Wolfgang pass (1631 meters), between Klosters and Davos, the cars were transported on self-powered remote controled platforms, Castor and Pollux, on a mountain path to Parsennhütte (2200 meters) and then to Weissfluhjoch ( 2680 meters), which is the top of the second section of the railway and then the cars were transported down to the passing loop of the second section (2450 m).
On the video, at 8:50, you see the installation of a car on the tracks … first one bogie then the other one at 9:37 … and the details of the adjustment of the Dual-shoulder outer wheel on the rail and the jaws of the security brakes either side of the outer rail!
