I looked at gMaps yesterday… Pretty sure it is not the South Table Montain railroad because the remants of the station building are not the right shape. I couldn’t find a clue about the Lookout Mountain funicular because of the antenna built on that spot.
From the text and the environment, I would say somewhere in the US… Most probably in Colorado / Utah / Nevada / California / Arizona / New Mexico…

Yes Jean-Marie, you are right, this was the funicular “Lookout Mountain Park” (1912-1916) at Golden (Colorado) .
