Here are some exceptional photos from the Stanserhorn-Bahn in 1972… that is only 2 years before the big fire at the hotel on top of the Stanserhorn and the final disuse of the sections 2 and 3 of the funicular. These high quality old photos were taken by Jean-Henri Manara, I only did some improvements to suppress the defaults of the scanning. These photos are exceptional because photos of the Stanserhorn-Bahn on the sections 2 or 3 it is very rare!

Exceptionnel !

Solution of Quiz #37 – New powerhouse of Mount Lowe Incline (1906)

New powerhouse of Mount Lowe Incline (1906)
New powerhouse of Mount Lowe Incline (1906)

This is the new powerhouse of the Mount Lowe Incline at the top of the Echo Mountain (California, USA).
It was built in 1906 after the 1905 big fire which destroyed almost all the buildings on Echo Mountain.
Note the rails and the cables which enters downstairs to the winding machinery in the center of the building.
Note on the roof the big searchlight and just below you can see the incline operator which also operates the searchlight (see photo below). I am wondering if the incline operator is exactly on the same plane as the incline!
Note, between the two incline workers, you can see part of an electric car waiting for passengers from the incline.
Note behind the powerhouse two other electric cars on the Alpine Division track which goes to the Alpine Tavern at the top of the Mount Lowe. On the background, behind the roof of the powerhouse, you can also see the famous Circular Bridge!
