! C’est ici.
Funicular Cannes – Super Cannes Cannes in 1963
The funicular Cannes – Super Cannes was stopped in 1966.
Here are some photos taken in 1963 so shortly before the end.
The documents on this funicular railway, dating from its activity, are actually quite rare.
Do not forget to see in which what state is the same funicular today. It has not disappeared. It is just off … ! It’s here.

Thanks for the photos. I sometimes hear about plans to do something with the observatory, not so much with the cable car though.
Who is the owner of the funicular, the two buildings and the track ?
Does anyone know who can be contacted within the council or Mayors office in Cannes?
Really interested to see this, we recently stopped at Novotel Montfleury, one evening we walked up Montfleury Boulevard, and noticed the old track and wondered what it was, sadly we did not get a chance to get a better look or any photo’s so it was great to see this site
Thank you Paul for your comment… it is nice to see that this page is useful for you 🙂
I took photos of the derelict rail carriage when visited the funicular railway in 2006. Can this railway ever be restored to its former glory?
Thank you John for your comment!
Restoring Super Cannes funicular? Well … this is a very difficult question to answer.
Here is what M. David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes, said in January 2020 about a possible restoration of the funicular:
