Le Stanserhorn-Bahn sera remis en service aujourd’hui 1er août 2009, jour de la fête nationale suisse!
Rappelons que le funiculaire est arrêté depuis le 15 juillet 2009. Ce jour là la voiture n°2 fut percutée par un camion  au premier passage à niveau! La voiture, qui date de 1893, avait été très sérieusement endommagée. La chassis avait été emmené chez Garaventa à Thun pour y être vérifié. Quant à la structure en bois elle avait été jugée irrécupérable et a dû être entièrement reconstruite par la société Amstutz Holzbau de Stans qui avait déjà réalisé le restaurant Rondorama du sommet du Stanserhorn.
Ci dessous les photos de la reconstruction de la voiture n°2 chez Amstutz Holzbau. Elle sera remise en service telle quelle, c’est à dire couleur bois sans être repeinte en rouge.

The Stanserhorn-Bahn will be in operation again today August 1st, 2009, Swiss National Day!
The funicular is stopped since July 15 2009. That day the car #2 was hit by a lorry at the first level crossing. The 1893 oldtimer car seriously damaged. The chassis was taken to Garaventa at Thun to be examined. The wooden structure was badly dammaged. It has to be completely rebuilt by the company Amstutz Holzbau at Stans. That company also built the Rondorama restaurant at the top of the Stanserhorn.
Below, the photos of the rebuild of the #2 car at Amstutz Holzbau. It will be in operation like this, it means without been paint in red.

Incroyable mais vrai! Une collision entre un camion et un funiculaire!
Le jeudi 16 juillet 2009 à 15 heures, un camion de la compagnie Niederberger Transporte à Alpnach (localité  proche de Stans) a percuté la voiture montante du Stanserhorn-Bahn lors du franchissement du passage à niveau! Fort heureusement il n’y a pas eu de blessés car la voiture circulait sans aucun passager.
La voiture a été fortement endommagée ainsi que la voie.
Il faut compter un mois d’arrêt avant la remise en service. En attendant l’exploitation du Stanserhorn-Bahn continue avec un service de bus pour remplacer la section du funiculaire.

A lorry destroys the Stanserhorn-Bahn

Incredible but true! A collision between a lorry and a funicular!
On July 16th, 2009, at 3 p.m., a lorry belonging to the firm Niederberger Transporte of Alpnach (a place closed to Stans) ran into the ascending carriage of the Stanserhorn-Bahn at the level crossing. Fortunately no one was injured since the carriage had no passengers.
Both the carriage and the track were badly damaged.
One expects one month’s work will be needed before the service can be reopened. In the meantime, a bus will take over the service of this section.

Floods have brought chaos to a large swathe of central Switzerland, triggering landslides and cutting roads and railway lines.

The Die Zentral Bahn line Interlaken – Meiringen was cut at Brienz because of a landslide.

The Die Zentral Bahn Luzern – Stans – Engelberg railway line was swept away between Wolfenschiessen and Engelberg !

The Stanserhorn Bahn funicular track was swept away because of the strong rain streaming. The funicular is out of service till September 9th 2005.

In Vaud canton the small village of Morcles was completly isolated from Saint Maurice valley. The Lavey – Dailly underground military funicular was used to feed the village and to evacuate people in case of urgent need.
