Schräglift Kirche Ringgenberg

Ringgenberg Church Inclined Lift

Since August 1st, 2009, there is an inclined elevator up to the fortified church Ringgenberg overlooking the village and Lake Brienz from the top of a rocky promontory. It was wanted to be discreet and for that it is lateral to the stairs of the church and almost entirely hidden in the vegetation.
This cable car is automatic and free. It works only during the opening hours of the church.

Ascenseur incliné de l’église de Ringgenberg

Depuis le 1 août 2009, il y a un ascenseur incliné pour monter à l’église fortifiée de Ringgenberg dominant le village et le lac de Brienz du haut d’un promontoire rocheux.
Pour ne pas dénaturer le site, l’ascenseur a été construit latéralement à l’escalier principal de l’église et pour le rendre encore plus discret il est presque entièrement dissimulé par un bosquet d’arbustes.
Ce funiculaire est entièrement automatique et gratuit. Il ne fonctionne que pendant les heures d’ouverture de l’église.

Standseilbahn Giessbachbahn – New videos

New videos of funicular Giessbachbahn.
It is the oldest funicular in Switzerland still in service and was inaugurated in 1879. However in the appearance of an ancestor he hides a mechanical and electronics on top of what is done today. Note in these videos the sound of the Riggenbach rack that serves as a brake.

Il s’agit du plus vieux funiculaire de Suisse encore en service; il a été inauguré en 1879. Cependant sous des allures d’ancêtre il cache une mécanique et une électronique au top de ce qui se fait aujourd’hui. A noter dans ces vidéos le bruit de la crémaillère Riggenbach qui sert de frein.

New videos of funicular Niesenbahn.
Niesen, officially called the Swiss pyramid, majestically overlooks the lake of Thun top of its 2362 meters. To go there is a funicular which celebrates its century of existence in 2010. In fact there is not one but two funiculars … two cable cars put together in two sections are required to climb the 1670 meters in altitude.

Le Niesen, appelé officiellement la pyramide suisse, domine majestueusement le lac de Thun du haut de ses 2362 mètres. Pour y monter il y a un funiculaire qui fête en 2010 son siècle d’existence. En fait il n’y a pas un funiculaire mais deux… deux funiculaires mis bout à bout en deux sections sont nécessaires pour gravir les 1670 mètres de dénivelé.

Mürrenbahn – From Grütschalp to Mürren

At Grütschalp, the transfer station between the rope way and the railway, you take the one track Mürrenbahn railway to Mürren, the small resort where there is no car.
Two trains composed of one carriage and a trailer operate on this line… one on each direction. There is only one intermediary stop, at Winteregg, where the two trains can pass each other.

A Grütschalp,.. la gare de correspondance entre le téléphérique et le train, vous prenez le Mürrenbahn, le train pour Mürren, la petite station sans voiture.
Deux trains, composés d’un seul wagon et d’une remorque porte palette, circulent sur la voie unique, un dans chaque sens. Il n’y a qu’un seul arrêt intermédiaire à Winteregg où les deux trains peuvent se croiser.

Mürrenbahn, the ‘Machine’ at Grütschalp

Grütschalp,.. this is the transfert station between the aerial cable car and the railway to Mürren. At Grütschalp, there is an extraordinary machine which is in charge to exchange the pallets between the aerial cable car and the railway.
This machine that I call ‘The Machine’ is made of a funicular and also a cog wheel railway!
See and appreciate the complete movements of this genius machine! The same machine was also there when the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen Mürren funicular was is use…

Mürrenbahn, la ‘Machine’ de Grütschalp

Grütschalp,.. c’est la gare de correspondance entre le téléphérique et le train pour aller à Mürren. A Grütschalp, il y a une machine extraordinaire qui est en charge d’inter-changer les palettes transportées par le téléphérique et le train.
Cette machine évolue sur un plan incliné comme une motrice à crémaillère et contrepoids funiculaires. Elle effectuait les mêmes transferts de pallettes entre le train et le funiculaire avant que celui-ci soit remplacé par le téléphérique.
Regardez et appréciez tous les mouvements de cette machine unique.

Remains of funicular Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen Mürren

The funicular Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren (BLM) was opened in 1891 and has been dismantled on Friday April 25, 2006 after 115 years! On Friday December 15th, 2006, was the opening of the new aerial cable car on the same site as the present funicular. On August 29, 2010 I was in the aerial cable car to record the remaining of the old funicular.
As you can see the old funicular was completly removed.
Only few meters of the old track have been kept, at Lauterbrunnen station, with rails, cable and rollers.
As a matter of interest, at 1:48 you can see chamois on the old funicular track.

Les restes du funiculaire Lauterbrunnen Mürren
Le funiculaire Lauterbrunnen Mürren (BLM) a été inauguré en 1891 et a été complètement démantelé le vendredi 25 avril 2006 après 115 ans de services. Le vendredi 15 décembre 2006 une nouveau téléphérique mono-cabine a été inauguré à la place de l’ancien funiculaire. Le 29 août 2010 je me suis rendu sur place pour aller voir les restes du funiculaire.
Comme vous pouvez le constater sur la vidéo, il ne reste pratiquement plus rien de l’ancien funiculaire. Seuls quelques mètres de voie de l’ancien funiculaire ont été conservés en l’état, à la gare basse de Lauterbrunnen, avec rails, câble et poulies.
A noter, à 01:48, des chamois sur l’ancienne voie du funiculaire.

Solution of Quiz #31 – Harderbahn

Cette voie Decauville a servi pour la construction du funiculaire Harderbahn à Interlaken (Suisse) qui fut mis en service en 1908. Elle est visible près de Hardermandli à l’altitude de 1160 mètres. Il en reste environ 200 mètres.

The Decauville track was used to build the funicular Harderbahn at Interlaken (Switzerland) which was opened in 1908. It is visible near Hardermandli at 1160 meters high on quite 200 meters.
