New powerhouse of Mount Lowe Incline (1906)
This is the new powerhouse of the Mount Lowe Incline at the top of the Echo Mountain (California, USA).
It was built in 1906 after the 1905 big fire which destroyed almost all the buildings on Echo Mountain.
Note the rails and the cables which enters downstairs to the winding machinery in the center of the building.
Note on the roof the big searchlight and just below you can see the incline operator which also operates the searchlight (see photo below). I am wondering if the incline operator is exactly on the same plane as the incline!
Note, between the two incline workers, you can see part of an electric car waiting for passengers from the incline.
Note behind the powerhouse two other electric cars on the Alpine Division track which goes to the Alpine Tavern at the top of the Mount Lowe. On the background, behind the roof of the powerhouse, you can also see the famous Circular Bridge!
Il s’agit de la gare supĂ©rieure du funiculaire du Mount Lowe (Californie, USA) qui abrite la salle des machines.
Elle a Ă©tĂ© entièrement reconstruite en 1906 après le terrible incendie de 1905 qui ravagea pratiquement tous les bâtiments sur l’Echo Mountain.
A noter, devant le bâtiment, les rails du funiculaire ainsi que les câbles qui rentrent dans le bâtiment pour aller vers la machinerie située au sous-sol.
A noter, sur le toit du bâtiment, le grand projecteur de poursuite et juste dessous vous pouvez apercevoir l’opĂ©rateur du funiculaire qui est aussi celui du projecteur (voir l’agrandissement ci-dessous). Je me demande si l’opĂ©rateur se trouve exactement dans le mĂŞme plan que celui du plan inclinĂ©!
Entre les deux mĂ©caniciens, sous l’entrĂ©e du bâtiment, vous apercevez Ă©galement une voiture Ă©lectrique qui attend les passagers venant du funiculaire pour les transporter sur la section Alpine du chemin de fer. Derrière le bâtiment, on aperçoit Ă©galement deux autres voitures Ă©lectriques.
Enfin, sur la montagne au fond et au dessus du toit, on distingue le célèbre pont circulaire (Circular Bridge).
