The funicular
A single track funicular pulled by a winch
Saint Imier - Mont Soleil is a completely new funicular , with two new stations, a new single track with no passing loop anymore, a single new car instead of two, a new power system based on a winch.
The photos below were taken in December 2003.

The new single track at the bottom Station. Note that, between the bottom station and the bridge over the track, the gradient of the track was been increased to reach street level. |
The new single track at half course. This is the site of the removed passing loop. |
The entrance of the tunnel. The snow is lighted by the car's headlights. |
The new car at the top station. The first compartment is used for persons with motor disabilities. It is the only one which is at floor level. |
